Frequently Asked Questions
Can I try premium features before paying?
Yes. Every new account starts with a free 30-day premium trial. No credit card required. You get full access to all premium features during the trial.
Can I switch between plans?
Absolutely. You can upgrade or downgrade at any time. When upgrading, your subscription is prorated so you only pay the difference.
What happens to my data if I downgrade?
Your feeds and saved stories are never deleted. If you downgrade from Archive, older stories will no longer appear in search results but will be available again if you re-upgrade. If you exceed the feed limit of a lower tier, you'll be asked to mute some feeds.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards via Stripe (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover) and PayPal.
Can I import my feeds from another reader?
Yes. NewsBlur supports OPML import, so you can bring your feeds from Google Reader, Feedly, Inoreader, or any other RSS reader.
Is there a self-hosted option?
Yes. NewsBlur is fully open source and can be self-hosted with a single Docker command. Visit the GitHub repository for instructions.
What makes Premium Pro worth $29/month?
Pro is built for professionals who depend on staying informed. Every feed in your account is fetched every 5-15 minutes, meaning you see breaking news and updates as they happen. Regex classifiers let you build precise filters that match patterns across titles, story text, and URLs. If your work depends on being the first to know, Pro pays for itself.
